Dr. Taylor Bunka is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon. She enjoys getting to know her patients and strives to come up with a treatment plan that is personal to each individual. She enjoys seeing the huge impact she can have on her patient’s lives and how happy they are when they finally feel better. As a visual learner herself, she likes to educate her patients, as often as possible, with illustrations, diagrams and foot models.
Dr. Bunka earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo and earned her Doctorate of Podiatric medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. From there she completed her surgical residency in Washington DC at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Foot and Ankle Surgery Residency. During residency she trained at a level 1 trauma center as well as a renowned limb salvage institution. She then went on to complete her foot and ankle fellowship at the California Reconstruction, Trauma and Arthroplasty Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Pleasanton, CA. Dr. Bunka has been an active researcher and continues to be involved in many research studies. She has won numerous awards and honors for her research and her work has been published in academic and medical journals. She was the research chair in her residency program, and received an award for contributing the most to the research that year.
Dr. Bunka is newly married. As a former college soccer player, Dr. Bunka enjoys staying active. When she’s not working she might be hiking, working out on her Peloton, reading or traveling with her husband Joe and their two dogs Zeus and Kenley.
